Mud Flaps on a '16 340xi M-Sport
Thanks to our Winter Apocalypse (2" of snow with a some ice...sigh...pathetic) and this foolish town's love of throwing pebbles on the ground when it snows, my front right door is scratched up rather badly from the pebbles. I'm pretty sure the pebbles that hit the door came from my own damn wheel.
A couple of folk have mentioned that they have put mud flaps on their 340's, despite BMW saying they don't fit the M-Sport trim. Can anyone who has done this provide any insight into why BMW says they don't fit and what it took to get them on anyway? The forecast says more snow is on the way next week, which means more stupid pebbles on the road so I'm hoping for a bit of quick insight, if possible, as I'd like to avoid more damage. |

Ive got mudflaps on for the same reason (paint scratches rear of both wheels) and doesnt look bad.. the F30 mudflaps will fit the rears with not much a problem.
The fronts need some carving to fit properly.. they were the pain |

If yer good with a blade and widdling you can carve it into shape carefully.. if not let the dealer install it for ya.. my dealer wanted to install it for me so I assume they must have some work-around for the 340i misfits with the frontflaps
BTW Ive M-sport so not sure if they fit perfect on a non-m-sport but the fronts certainly dont on an m-sport |

I have my entire front fenders clear filmed. I also have the rear bumper behind the wheels. It is well worth the couple hundred because it works year round

It really doesn't look bad at all, rather it saved my paint, the winters in Quebec are horrible and these mudflaps prevented sandblasting and paint chips.
Took me about 20 minutes to install (very easy DIY, it takes 3m tape and the rivets that were provided) I'd rather save myself hundred or so dollars than go to the dealer where they say it's an hour job and charge you for it. |

Awesome! Thank you so much!! But is that for the M sport? Doesn't look that way. How did you fit them to the rear with all that hollow space in the wheel well

That's the issue, Razzy. BMW doesn't sell any that are actually for M sport, but folk have made them work anyway. I'm not terribly handy with any tools more dangerous than a screwdriver or a lug wrench, and my local dealership has gone from friendly to horrid over the last six or seven months. I doubt I can get them to put them on. Going to a less local dealership isn't an easy prospect with how this week is working itself out.

I installed them on my 335I M-Sport; no issues with fit.

They fit perfectly, there's instructions and they are very straightforward, the mudflaps themselves only fit one way with each screw and where they go.

Again.. the front F30 mudflaps are not going to fit straightaway on an LCI 340i msport which is what Bri1042 has.. thats the issue. Otherwise yes its a very easy install.

Other than a couple small interior, engine changes, they really didn't change the exterior much which is why I do believe they will fit. If anyone can take a picture of the wheelwell, I can tell you if it fits or not. |

On my 340xi, the rears fit perfectly, the fronts need a little trimming to fit.
I've attached an image showing the section that needs to be trimmed out. Getting the first side to fit took a while, the second was a breeze after I transferred the dimensions to the other side: I found that for the fronts, the rivets aren't long enough, so you can't push the new ones back in. I just pulled out the plastic pin, and then screwed in a #6-1/2" stainless steel pan-header metal screw in place of the rivets center pin (still using the rivet collar though). |
