Navigation screen

I find the screen annoying. Always in my line of sight. Has anyone removed it or found a way to make it collapsible.

Can't for the life of me understand why BMW designers did it like this.

The new highway safety laws requires the screen to be up and running (with backup camera view) in some very short time period(don't know the number) thus all the cars are coming with fixed screens. Now if you don't have a back up camera then what is the difference? Now don't go there, you're dealing with US bureaucracy and there is NO LOGIC to be found there.

I feel a modification coming on. I looked and all that holds this are two screws in the bottom corners. May be able to modify so I can fold it down.

It's perfect in its position. Have you been in an Audi lately? Their screen is defines in the way of your view.

Agree on AUDI. Friend has Q3 and very obnoxious screen

I'm not short. It just catches my eye. Same as laying something on the dash.

Interesting. Sitting in my car now. I would recommend just keeping your eyes straight on the road. It will only be in your line of sight if you are sitting in the middle. The nav screen is not in your way if you look straight forward. Pay attention to the cars and pedestrians instead.

Isn't it retractable though?

The screen is very easy to remove and only uses 1 cable to connect. you could 3d print hinges or quick release for it.
