Ive never found a thread dedicated for subwoofer builds like there are wheel setups, although i've seen a fair amount of unique customs scattered across the forum. Interested in seeing what types of setups our cars are capable of.

Lets see what you got!

Square operates box with two JL 12w3 V 3's and a JL JX 1000 . Amp has front mounted JL volume control so I can keep the bass where I want it and don't over power the rest . Next I will upgrade the rest of the speakers and the factory amp after Christmas when time allows .

Amp is mounted on the side of the box behind the front panel so it's all hidden

JL! How's that amp doing for those subs? I'm considering a picking up a 1000w slash series but i'm debating on whether or not its worth the money.

I have a single JL 12w6v2 powered by a MRP-m500 which makes for a decent combination. Leaning towards switching to two 12 Type Rs in the future.

I really like the JL amp.

This is where I put the amp volume . Also relocated the heated seat control to the ashtray location. I found a trim plate that didn't have the seat controls and added a USB charger .

Interesting spot for the knob, looks nice. Did you run the wire through the center console? My current amp doesn't have support for a knob, which can be irritating for those songs where the bass is almost non existent.

My setup

I added my sub to the logic 7 system using the LC7i, love the sound quality. I am running a DD audio M1c 1700w with a pair of JL Audio 12w6 wired to 1 Ohm. I have the base control with the amp on switch for when I do not want to run the amp. Yes the amp will shut off with the car too. I have a 100 amp regular fuse off the battery going to a 100 amp resettable breaker. So I can cut all power to amp if needed. I also have a 2 farad capacitor to keep lights from dimming.

Here's mine. It's still a work in progress as I'm working on making the false floor and trim panels. There will be the obligatory RGB LEDs to light everything up. The setup has the three Kenwood 10s utilizing the storage well in a custom MDF and fiberglass enclosure that I built. I also made the custom amp enclosure for the Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 amp. This is all in my 2008 E91.

I did run it from the front of the console . I had to modify the wood grain part of the console just a little but it all fits fine .

Here's how I treated the issue of where to mount control knobs.

Here's my IB setup with an ID15D2 V3 sub and a Rockford Fosgate R500X1D:

A huge thanks to member kaigoss69 for walking me through the process via multiple PMs and answering my many questions. I think the end product turned out pretty nice despite some pretty basic cable management. In retrospect I probably should've tried to find some grey upholstery to match the trunk liner but the black isn't too bad. Not the prettiest but sounds great!

How did you mount the panel to stay tight against the seats?

Just four decent-length screws; can't remember the length. The panel is definitely pressed against the seats, but if I want a strong seal I can use some angle iron brackets and really shove that thing against it. But for now it sounds perfect!
