So FBO at last

So last week I finally got to install the last bit of my mods. I already had jb4, vrsf catless downpipe, forge chargepipe and mpe for quite a while, so the next mods were obviously IC and intake. I decided to go with forge FMIC and aFe CAI, it is so amazing how these two mods can make such a difference! I mean the car pulls like crazy. Next week ill go to the dyno to check out numbers, since I have access to 98 octane ill guess it is around 350-370whp. Still, the way my butt dyno feels it's more than enough for me

Should I run Map 2?

Nicely done! Sounds like the IC made a big difference giving you all of the power available opposed to heat soaking the factory IC.

I'd run Map 2 with the mods you have.

OP,

Did you connect extra EWG harness to JB4 ?

If so, by all means run map 2 but its an additive map like map 1.

If JB4 controls EWG directly, then try maps 5 and get map 6 set up. Both are absolute maps which allows Jb4 to raise boost ceiling higher, safely.

Map 5 is autotuning map - continually optimising JB4 boost curve to suit yr driving style etc

Map 6 is custom map - best setup on dyno.

Enjoy !

Wow. Great result. This was on a dyno jet?you don't have any baseline numbers??

I did some runs like 5 months ago just with mpe and downpipe and the results were 305whp and 329wtq. I would assume that the downpipe gave around 8-15 whp to the stock figure because with mpe alone you really dont notice any gains at all, just a bit more sound and burble to the exhaust.

Now, I have a question for you guys. The dyno numbers shows that I reach peak torque at 4300rpm and peak horsepower at 5350rpm, what would be my optimum shifting points during drag races??

Was your dyno done in map 2 ? What grade of fuel were you using ? Do you have any logs ?

I ask as peak power rpm looks low and drops off quickly very quickly.

Below are 3 lines on the same dyno of my car taken at different times/stages of tune using Shell V power 98RON & all figures quoted are at the crank.

Blue line from 2014 dyno run - car stock c/w MPE ie JB4 map 0 on Shell V power c/w 1st gen F series JB4 no EWG wires - 320/350 power/torque;

Green line from 2015 dyno run - JB4 updated with EWG board, EWG wires installed and map 6 refettled with AFE drop-in and AFE airscoop 395/470 power/torque;

Red line from last dyno run in Oct 2016 - intake upgrades as per my BB thread 405/460 power/torque;

Power / torque curves are different shapes and top end is stronger for longer.

Yes, the last dyno runs were in map 2 with 98 octane, no logs. Crank hp and tq are 412hp and 434tq. Im interested in knowing the best shifting points because I wont be changing from map 2 and will run the car most of the time with 98 octane.

I think you're leaving a lot of power on the table with your mods and octane, but I understand if you want to keep it conservative.

If you have EWG wires hooked up I would at least run map 5. I think it's perfectly safe and still conservative. (I used it Saturday for my track day).

You think i could achieve more power in map 5?

If you're running 98oct as it's rated here in the US you should make more power on map 5 than map 2. Just keep in mind it takes a good 3-5 WOT pulls for map 5 to get a good baseline tune. Then if you switch back and forth between maps it has to learn again.

Looking at how quickly power tails off on your dyno there's no point revving beyond the ~5500 rpm peak.

I think there's more to it than that. I feel like this guy does a pretty good job at explaining it. Does any one have some real world experience with this?

That's my point - based on OP's dyno plot - he's better off short shifting to stay in the torque plateau rather than winding out to redline !!!
