Amp dead?

The speakers were making a crackling sound and then nothing. Oddly enough I also received a "driver restraint" warning that come on and off within seconds and never came back.

Any thoughts? I tried to call BMW to schedule an appointment but they just closed for the weekend.

Just an update....The amp was replaced and I will be picking the car back up tomorrow. It took two weeks to get a new amp from Germany.

Thanks for posting.

Does it sound the same as before now that the amp has been replaced?

Same thing here. Happened a couple days ago, turned everything off, after a few hours, was working again. Worked fine for a couple days, then same crackling/static noise, followed with a louder boom, then no sound.

When was your car built? Looks like there was a new part number for the HK released start of November 2016.

Old part: TOP-HIFI SYSTEM AMPLIFIER 1 11/2016 65126836346
New Part: TOP-HIFI SYSTEM AMPLIFIER 1 65129869514

Got my car going in Monday for the dealer to 'look' at it. Expecting them to have it 2 days, wasting my time and millage, to be told they need to order a new amp from Germany....

It's working again for now. Thinking it could be an issue with clogged drainage. Sounds like water is in play.

Build date was early, maybe APR-May

Just had my amp replaced under warranty, was the old top hifi for new model and I can't tell any difference in sound. If I had to pick one thing it would be that the bass is not as flat but other than that, no real difference.
