Does your car pass the Fuel Pump test?
Hello!
The supply system is set up in a way that the pump do not deliver more fuel than it needs to not to make heat or extra stress on pump under idle and low loads. As many of you know i have a rail pressure problem under full load. I replaced the in tank fuel pump from another car with no luck and therefor ruled it out. But... When doing the Fuel Supply Pump Flow test in DIS it did not pass. I also tested with another car but it did not pass either. So, what are your values? Does your in tank pump pass the test? Values under the test is not interesting. When the test is done it tells you the values and if it passes or not. 335D Result: Did not pass! 320D Result: Did not pass! Since a new in tank pump is pretty expensive i would like to gather some information before i order a new one. |

If the pump was meeting the supply pressure requirement then the lower power demands suggest a pump that is working more efficiently than expected, or that the filter is not experiencing as much pressure drop as expected.

I have to agree with Hooper's point. It is only pulling 3.9A and spec range is > 7A.
FWIW, when I direct powered by lift pump using a 12V battery and vehicle battery disconnected, a 4A slow blow hooked in series wouldn't run the pump for more than about 10 seconds and then blow. This is way different than the car managing power to the pump through its local power control module (located under right rear seat bolster, your right shoulder would touch it if seated there). |
