2Ah Battery Difference

I am beginning to have problems with my 8 year old Wet Cell battery holding a charge. BMW wants $195.00 for a 90Ah (only 2 year warranty). They no longer sell EXIDE, East Penn is being offered. I am looking at an Interstate $183.00 92Ah ( 3 year warranty). Does the 2Ah difference mean that I have to reprogram CAS or will just registering be okay?
I would rather outlay $61.00 a year instead of $98.00 a year: If 92Ah does not cause problems!!

Answered my question. The Interstate is AGM, so I need to program it in

can't see an issue I have a 100 battery registered as a 90ah as the only options are 110ah or 90ah in my cas.

just make sure it's the same type i.e. agm or non agm if it's different it definitely needs to be recoded.

GUY'S Thanks for the input. I am beginning to wonder if it is the alternator causing the problem. Need to do some further reading in the "Maintenance Forum"

Ok Alternator is fine. After reading many post on changing the battery there are a few different steps. Some say both CAS and FRM need to be programed and some say just CAS. I do understand I need to change my VO because I am going to AGM from Wet Cell and also register it. So I would like to know what are the correct steps!

If you are going to AGM then you must recode the CAS.

In the CAS module there is an option called KLASSE_BATTERIE which you can set to ANY of the following depending on your installed battery:

46ah
55ah
70ah
80ah
90ah
110ah
40ah_agm
60ah_agm
70ah_agm
80ah_agm
90ah_agm

However, it is not correct to just change this option. What if you car goes to a dealer / shop and software updated and CAS codes back to default? Then your change will see overwritten with its original value.

The original value is stored in the cars vehicle order VO (or FA). If you look at your VO you'll likely see for example B090 which indicates the CAS is setup for a normal 90a battery.

As the VO is stored in both CAS and FRM you need to delete the B090 and add A090 then FA_WRITE the change so store it in both modules.

Once stored, recode your CAS to default with expertmode and the job SG_CODERIEN

Coding is complete and KLASSE_BATTERIE will now show 90ah_agm. Simply register the new battery as normal.

Below is the full list of VO codes. For 92ah agm just use A090.

E B046 BATT_46AH //46 Ah-Batterie
E B055 BATT_55AH //55 Ah-Batterie
E B070 BATT_70AH //70 Ah-Batterie
E B080 BATT_80AH //80 Ah-Batterie
E B090 BATT_90AH //90 Ah-Batterie
E A070 BATT_AGM_70AH //70 Ah-AGM Batterie
E A080 BATT_AGM_80AH //80 Ah-AGM Batterie
E A090 BATT_AGM_90AH //90 Ah-AGM Batterie
