Bluetooth issue
good morning all, ive got a problem with Bluetooth connection with phone (iPhone 5s) but cant work out why.........
It connects fine and I can stream music and make calls without a problem BUT when someone calls me, I get nothing but silence so the caller hangs up and I have to call them back (which is fine) Any ideas? (Car is 2014 F31) |

Has it just started doing this or has it always done it?
Have you tried increasing the volume (by the volume button on the steering wheel)when taking a call? Also, go into idrive - settings - Bluetooth - and you can set volume and Microphone levels there.

Have you tried unpairing the phone both in the phone menu and in idrive then re-pairing it?
And have you tried updating the cars Bluetooth software from BMW website? |

Mine has recently started to have the same problem.
Will try Teastons method before booking into the dealer.

I had this, even started a thread on it and commented on others. Tried updating i-drive software but that didn't work, car failed to read the usb so I gave up intending to visit dealer.
Then, about a week ago, it healed itself Mine was iPhone 5 (os 10.1.1) - incoming calls from some mobiles but not all connected, but neither party could hear the other. Silence, no background noise, but call time ticking away so still connected. Everything else as normal i.e. outgoing and land line calls fine. Still no flippin idea what went on. Seems ok now but if you get to the bottom of it please post as I'm sure it'll happen again.

Iv got this issue too bloody annoying but not as annoying as when I'm listing to music via streaming or USB and the music stops after a while. Then have to go back on the phone and press play again? Re the call issue It could be an iPhone thing as it happens on the handset too sometimes.

Wow, it's quite common it seems....
I haven't unpaired / paired yet, I'll do that today. The car is new (to me) so don't know if this has only just started happening or not. |

The only real way to get your idrive updated and it's Bluetooth updates is to have dealer update your Istep level. Or you could separately flash new firmware on iDrive. . I believe current NBT firmware is NBT_L.

I upgraded my Idrive a week ago and still having issues with answering phone calls on it. When I use the answer button on the steering wheel it take maybe 3-4s before the phone will answer and then maybe another 5s before I can hear the other party. I may not even hear anything at all quite a lot of the time and then just have to hang up.
