B58 Billet BMS Intake | MPG
Anyone that has the B58 Billet BMS Intake noticed any MPG gains? I've installed it last night and on my way to work, 30 Mile cruise in Comfort Mode noticed i'm getting 39.4 MPG lol.
Highest i've gotten before the install was around 32-34 MPG. |

probably because it skews the maf which in turn skews the mpg calculation

miles/gallons = change in odometer/change in fuel level
maf may impact the instantaneous mpg calculation (but more likely using something like throttle position and injector timing/pressure) but it doesn't make sense to calculate the long term from maf readings. understand now? |

I highly doubt the intake will get you another 9mpg but it would be awesome if it did

ok, so explain how it works? how does the car knows your mpg goes to infinity when you're rolling to a stop in gear if the maf readings are the same as idle? how does it know that a maf reading in 1st gear is getting less mpg than the same maf reading in 6th gear? how do cars without a maf calculate mpg?

you know what, i see where the disconnect is so i'll just stop it right here. I'm guessing you're talking about the actual mpg the car is getting vs the mpg readout on the cluster.
I'm *assuming* the OP is referring to the mpg reading on the cluster since he mentioned such a high number and cars are known for being generous with their calculation. Plus he is referencing a 30 mile stretch of highway vs his last fillup. i agree the maf will affect actual mpg whether it's the wrong size or dirty or whatever. but intakes are known for giving a 1-2 mpg bump (when you can stay out of the throttle) |

Maf or a map+intake temp are input sensors. Dme bases its calculations on the information gathered from the input sensors + engine load to achieve the desired power output by the consumer (you pressuring the gas pedal). So whatever sensor you have on the vehicle (map/maf) the air volume and air temp is the single most important input of which all calculations are based off of including mpg.

Bms intake was my first mod, and it was worth the $$ for sure. Love the in cabin sound.
Pair that with a downpipe and tune and you're golden. Or just leave the intake on and enjoy |
