iDrive 5.0 MY17?

Does anyone know if MY17 for the M2 will have the iDrive 5.0? For UK customers.

Not without loss of functionality:

1) The new iDrive head unit uses slightly different hardware. Consequently, you will lose all Telematics functionality such as ConnectedDrive. In addition, provisioning data you get from the BMW server when online services are updated are for iDrive 4 per your VIN specs.

2) The FSC scheme (used in licensing) has changed. Your old FSC codes (that dealer added via USB) will no longer work. This effectively means you will lose Navigation, since that uses FSC. In the future, it may be possible to find a way to add a new navigation license.

Yes. Need to remove FSC codes, update, load new FSC files. There are some that offer for $1.00.

Incorrect. Anything is possible, including putting ID5 in an E-series. You are just limited finances and know-how.

The process depends on whether you have existing HU_NBT2 as well as what you are willing to lose. Retrofs will void warranty and you may not be able to downgrade.

Can be done. It's not very hard, just expensive. If memory serves me right, there was a post about the conversion costing around $2,500 USD.

Very unlikely unless you had good history of mods with the dealer.
