Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a high performance engine mount to be found anywhere for a 235? I know it shares it mounts with 135, 335 and 435, but can't seem to find anyone offering for any of these?

Do you mean that you are looking for a stiffer design which will not allow the engine to move / torque and thus provide a quicker moment of force to the drive shaft on hard acceleration. I guess you would call this a part of drivetrain loss??

M235iR Engine and Transmission Mounts
This kit from BMW Motorsport stiffens the engine and transmission mounts so they will not wear or fail prematurely on the race track. Rubber mounts are great for street use where they soak up vibration and harshness. But the rubber quickly loses its strength under racing conditions. BMW Motorsport has developed this stiffening package consisting of a solid insert for the stock motor mounts and new solid transmission mounts. The insert is a solid material that reinforces and stiffens the stock engine mount. Although new engine mounts are recommended they are not required if you have low mileage rubber mounts in good condition. The transmission mounts are direct replacements made from solid aluminum. The transmission mounts work on manual and automatic transmission models. Because these are solid mounts they are not street-friendly and more noise and vibration will reach the cabin.

I have written Vibra Technics in the UK today to ask if the do plan on making any, as the engine mount in my F22 cover all the models from F20 up to the F87, via the entire F3X series, including M3 and M4. I'll post their reply.

Found out today that the mounts from M2/3/4 are the same as in the M235i.

I am rebuilding slightly crashed car with 14000 km on it. I can see a slight "wrinkle" on the rubber in the mount and hence want to replace them. This is why I am searching for something "semi-rigid".

Those M235iR mounts are on my wishlist, now. Wasn't aware they were available!

The OEM mounts are horrid, as are most OEM mounts in these cars, just way too much slop (especially on a MT) for my liking.

Unless you're a track rat and don't car about comfort the NVH will be horrendous. There's some polyurethane mounts but will make the car so harsh on the street.

Can always dip the metal in rubber to coat them...

I wish someone could take the factory mount, and replicate it with a higher durometer rubber. 034 Motorsports does this for the VAG community. Gotta be someone in the BMW crowd to implement something like that?

Anyone tried these?
Looked them up on their web and the look of the products in picture doesn't seem correct. Had a look at the install guide you find at the bottom of the page and found that to be for a GM car, so I guess it is not the right picture? Wrote and asked.

I think this is very new territory for most members. You have to track the car to really require the need for something like this. Plus i doubt it's a simple DIY you can do on ramps.

DIY or not, if you have a MT car, you'd understand why we want better mounts. You don't feel the same weight transfer with an Auto transmission. I agree we don't need full on race mounts, but we do require a better mount option at the end of the day. The platform is still relatively new, so I'd imagine we'll have more out there in the coming years.

I had vibratechnics mounts very similar to those pictured above on a previous car.

The solidity added to the drivetrain was fantastic.

The NVH and bolts rattling themselves loose regularly was not so fantastic.

They are way too stiff for a road car IMO. What we need is some OEM style mounts with stiffer material than the stock rubber, like a poly insert rather than rubber.

I wrote to energysuspensionparts and last night they replied. It turns out that there is a hiccup in their system that shows they have engine and transmission mounts for our cars, but they don't. Thats why when pulling up the mounting instructions it shows a the ones in the picture being installed in a GM car.

They apologized for the inconvenience and were going to fix this on their web. They do not have anything in the pipeline either.
