ista or gt1?

I'm trying to compare the two, and find one for my 08 E93 335i. I have a tpms transmitter that went out, and have heard that once its replaced, you have to reporgram the system.

Is it hard to do it?

Thanks in advance!

GT1 is very old. ISTA-D Rheingold will help you diagnose the sensor. Not done this for ages but I'm sure it has an option to check battery life etc etc.

I don't think it needs reprogramming. Normally when sensors are replaced you just reset the tpms on the cars computer which will sync the new sensors.

Even the tpms transmitter that is in fender, not the tire?

I think so.

I had used sensors from a different car and literally taped them to the outside of the wheel to test, reset the system and took it for a spin. They ended up waking from sleep and worked immediately.

This is the RDC trigger. As per BMW Workshop manual, just replace and reset with idrive / BC.

I have never done it but yes, it appears so...

- Start engine but do not drive off
- Touch direction indicator lever up or down until the corresponding symbol and RESET appear
- Press BC button to confirm selection of Run Flat Indicator
- Press BC button for approx. 5 seconds until a check/tick appears after RESET
- Drive off. Initialization is completed during the journey
