How to find latest software revision for AT + ECU?

Does anyone know how to find the latest software revisions for my X1 35i transmission and ECU?

Are there updates from BMW periodically? How would one know the zusb to flash?

For example, I used to have the Alpina flash, but went back to the stock zusb listed in the article. But, isn't this a very old software revision, and perhaps it isn't even the one my X1 shipped with from the factory?

Thanks in advance

This PDF gives you the status of BMW software updates: BMW I-Level Versions

The latest for your car would be E89x-16-07-505, which comes with "ISTA P3.59.2" otherwise known as "SP Daten 59.2".

Once you have those software update files you can then just use WinKFP to flash the latest module updates.

There is a handy tool available elsewhere on the internet called "ECU Finder" which will give you the latest ZB numbers. You can then look at the 0da and 0pa files and see if they are recent.

I'm assuming that your chassis type code is VM53. You can verify this with a VIN decoder:
http://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/online/

I'm also assuming that you flashed your EGS module with ZB number 7601492.

If either of the above assumptions are incorrect, let me know.

ZB number 7601492 is very old. It was released on 02/19/2009. Furthermore, it was never qualified for your X1 X35i.

The latest EGS flash qualified for your chassis type is ZB number 8612308. It was released on 11/22/2012 and is applicable to integration levels E89X-11-03-501 to present (E089X-16-11-500).

Thanks much! That's the exact ZB I ended up flashing after researching this a few months ago. Managed to get some Russian software (forgot the name already) to decode the latest compatible transmission software out of the datens. 8612308 is much improved over 7601492 and I am a happy camper. Feels like a great blend of stock smoothness with Alpina sportiness.
