Which oil should I be providing?

So my first service has just popped up at a record 23,645 miles.

I drive a 2015 435i M Sport - does anyone know exactly what oil they'll be using for my car? I'm tempted to price it up and provide the oil myself. Sytner BMW quoted me £305 for the first service by itself, that was with a lot of awkward bargaining too asking for their best price.

They're probably going to use the new Shell Helix Ultra oil, which is a full synthetic made from natural gas/propane. Dealers over there in the UK/EU are as bad as any stealership in the USA/CA as far as price: sorry don't know how to help you on price. It's not hard to do; any garage/shop should be able to handle it. There are others you can use, look for BMW LL-04 or their new spec LL-14

It wasn't clear in the post whether this is the first oil change. Hopefully not.

Seems like it too, Sytner head office have confirmed though that it is correct.. first service (I have had the oil topped up in past visits to the dealer).

That would be the warranty, even then it's only something like 2 years.

This is a break down of costs without VAT sent to me yesterday

BMW in USA will change the oil after 1 year if your mileage doesn't trigger the light for a change.
