I got a ding :(

People can be such assholes.

Just found this today:

That's bare metal you're seeing. That's right on the ridge of the driver side door. There does not appear to be a dent.

So I guess I'll need some touch up paint.

I'll need some gloss black.

A VIN lookup shows my paint code to be: 668 - SCHWARZ 2

Do you folks have any advice on painting this so that it's not so visible?

I'm assuming I should clean it with alcohol first.

How many layers of touch up paint should I apply?

I ordered this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171891319024...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

It has a base coat and clear coat. I think this is a paint stick applicator (not brush) if I'm not mistaken.

Well, I did the best I can. I purchased some BMW touch up paint using the color code for my car.

The kit comes with paint and a clear coat.

I cleaned out the ding as best I could with a tiny bit of fine sand paper and then cleaned it out with alcohol.

I then carefully applied a few layers of paint waiting about 30 minutes in between each layer.

Then I finally applied a layer of clearcoat.

The results look good enough so that you don't notice it w/o close inspection.

People are just so inconsiderate today !!!!

If I had a Ferrari, I would have a nervous breakdown !

If the paint is not chipped, you might be able to remove that white scuff with some car wax. If that doesn't work then car polish, but be careful not to run too hard. If you use the polish, top it off with wax.

If a small indentation remains, a paintless dent removal service might be able to pull the indentation out.
