Clay...now what?

After I clay the car, do I "have" to seal it? Or can the clay be used by itself, during a routine car wash?

Clay is just remove contaminants to prepare the surface for polishing or wax/sealant (protection).

So you if you don't intend on polishing after, at least wax or sealant will be necessary.

You don't typically just clay the car as routine maintenance during a routine wash. Usually you do it as part of a "super-clean" before polishing and waxing. Chrisfix has a good video on super-cleaning a car. Claying can tend to leave behind micro-scratches and it'll probably strip wax too so polishing and waxing afterwards is best.
