alarm system showing as triggered after unlocking

This has happened twice to me. Today after I got off work, I went to unlock my car and got in the car. I noticed that the red LED under the mirror was still blinking. I know that this means the alarm was triggered according to the manual. I highly doubt that my alarm would be triggered when I am in the work parking lot but I guess it would still be possible. I would hear it if the alarm was triggered too. I don't have anything moving inside the car either besides a sunshade. Any ideas here? I am not sure what else a blinking red LED under the mirror would mean. Thanks in advance.

Nope it's a 228i coupe. I have attempted to set off the alarm intentionally by leaving the window open, arm the alarm and wave my hand inside the car. That did set off the alarm. once I unlocked the car, the red light was still blinking at a fast rate.

The thing is, I am not so sure the blinking I saw at my work parking lot was as fast as the blink rate when I intentionally set off the alarm... I guess I will have to check next time the issue happens.

Is there any other situation that could cause the red LED to blink once car is unlocked, besides triggering the alarm?

Yes I already read that, as mentioned in my original post. It appears from the manual that the alarm was triggered but I am not sure if that is likely given where I park at work. There were no signs of tampering on the car either.

Rather than posting on an online forum asking other members to speculate what might have happened, it would be far easier to go buy a cheap dash cam, or see if your company has access to any cameras in your parking area, to see what happened...

Watson posting here. If the car indicates that your alarm was triggered, the most likely cause is that your alarm was triggered.
