Finally got one!
I have been on a wait list at a dealer near Philadelphia since March. I started out 8th and have moved down to 4th mostly due to people dropping out. The dealer has only gotten two allocations since the M2 was released. My current lease is ending in April so I was getting pretty nervous that I was not going to get a car in time. Long story short, I was in Princeton, NJ for work yesterday and decided to stop by Princeton BMW and it turned out they still had available one of the two allocations they got this quarter!
I am going to get the car before my lease is up so I'll be stuck with two cars for two months, but it's better than not getting one till early to late summer at best. Hon was my SA and he was awesome. He helped me out and made the two last payments on my lease not hurt as bad. Hoping to see her by late January - early February! I highly recommend anyone on the east coast that is still on a long wait list to call up Hon at Princeton BMW. |

Funny how some dealers have no one in line to buy an M2!

My local dealer is taking a unique approach. They have no list and are selecting customers based on being local and having an established relationship with them or their desire to build one. I was originally frustrated by this approach but it probably makes more sense than having a list of frustrated one time customers waiting on a list and then having to say no to your locals who you can do business with in the future. I began calling them in October of last year right after the announcement and it was frustrating at first but it paid off and my car delivery is about 2 weeks away. Also they are selling at MSRP.

IMHO, this is the way it should be. But, the dealers around me are marking them up; some to ridiculous prices. El Paso BMW took great care of me to the point I will travel 850 miles to them when I buy my next one.

Congratulations! My local dealer is a super small one so not a lot of allocations but since I am local, they called me first when they got their allocation.

I wish that I was. Unfortunately, my current lease is an Infiniti Q60S. However, they did help me out by reducing the price of the M2 by $400, which is the amount of my lease disposition fee.

Keep looking guys, I personally think that there is always a few M2s available somewhere. You just need to dig and make phone calls.
I put a deposit on mine 09/28 and now it's on the boat to US. I contacted about 15 dealers and eventually I got one for MSRP. Even though I need to pay for car shipping from LA to Seattle but it's still a good deal since my local dealer either does $5000 mark up or MSRP with 6-12 months wait. |
