Lap timer

I am taking delivery of my M2 this week , so I am putting together my "to do" list for the track. My last car had an AIM system that gave me real time laps plus predictive data. My SA does not know of any way to do this with the M2. There must be some way to get this info to display on the nav screen.....I am not very tech savvy so HELP😨

I'm busy when driving at the track so don't have an Idrive requirement for my timer. There are a number of apps available including one from BMW for a few hundred bucks. I've used a couple apps over the years but settled on a freebie since I rarely used the advanced features on the paid apps (like video and OBD integration). Right now I use RaceChrono and a qstarz 10Hz Bluetooth GPS receiver.

Not on a 2016. Can't speak to the 2017 as it has a new Idrive.

You can download the app BMW Laptimer and use that during a track day while connected to iDrive Connect. It will show you some information like the track layout and record your lap times... If you don't like info, you can have it display an M logo that should add 5HP. The lap times will be displayed and saved on your phone. For a more comprehensive lap timer, I use Harry's Lap Timer which gives me more information.
