PCD question

So I'm stoked like everyone else on this board who found out they received an allocation this cycle. My M2 is in production now and scheduled to be complete next week. I've set up PCD for Dec. 1 as that is the earliest date they would give my CA. With that said, based on everything else I read about production to delivery my new baby should be stateside by the end of October. Does PCD allow a customer to call and request an earlier date once the car is on a boat and arrival dates at port are more solid? I just can't stand the thought of my car sitting there for 30 days. PCD is a bucket list item for me so there's no question I'm doing it, just maybe I can get in the queue earlier than Dec. 1. Any thoughts or suggestions is appreciated.

I was quoted 12/8 for PCD, so also very interested in the thought of getting earlier if possible.

I would love to do PCD. You've already waited this long, what's an extra three weeks or so? Four months from now you won't remember you had to wait a few extra weeks but you will probably remember the PCD experience.

I wouldn't bank on it getting here by the end of October anyway. My car came out of production 9/16 and is still just sitting at the port waiting for a ship.

All that said, once it is here it won't hurt to ask for an earlier date.

Your PCD will be automatically set up for you based on scheduling at the Center.

My car was Produced end of July and was at SC mid August. The earliest date available was 9/8 for PCD. If you can't do it that day they tell you to let them know and they provide a couple alternate dates but I understand they will all be AFTER that initial date they provided.

Not sure you can pull it forward.

Waiting a bit more IMO is better than getting the car 2-3 weeks earlier delivered at the dealer. After experiencing the PCD I would have waited a full month more just to go thru that experience.

Once your car is assigned a vessel at port and has an ETA for the US, you can contact the Performance Center and have your delivery date moved up. The original date is automatically set to about 8 weeks after your build finish date.

Mine was moved up by a full week. I think this works for non-ED only since the ED cars have the extra customs to go through at VPC.

I actually ended up getting an email from the Performance Center (forwarded by my CA) once my car was on a boat asking if I wanted to move it up from the originally scheduled date. It could have been as much as 2 weeks earlier depending on which date I requested, but they made it clear that availability was limited.

Turns out my schedule wouldn't allow me to move it up, so I stayed with the original date (11/4), but at least in my case the PC made the effort to contact me proactively.

Paperwork

I have a silly question. If you do the PCD option, where do you take care of the paperwork, plates, and payment, at the dealer before taking delivery?

Yes...all paperwork gets done at your local dealer before you head to PCD. I'm planning on doing paperwork about 3 days before I go down there. I'm transferring plates from another car so those go with me to PCD. BMW also recommends you take Bill of Sale and of course proof of insurance.

I would love to do PCD but problem is I would have to pay shipping (don't know how much) to have my car delivered back to the West Coast. PCD is more convenient for people in the East Coast. It would be cool PCD was complimentary on top of ED and you would just go for the experience and not worry about your car.

El Ban u might be right...if that's the case I would do PCD for sure and drive it back home. I'm wondering if the PCD experience would be the same as the East Coast?

Try asking your CA. I was told that the delivery happens in SC for the PCD but you can then have the car arranged to get to the dealer at your expense. Maybe you can get quoted for it?

Best case would be picking up car at dealership and fly out to SC just for the experience.
