Red face Stupid Mistake - Disconnected Battery

Excuse me for being stupid this one time. As I'm writing this I'm patiently waiting for my flight. I won't be returning to my vehicle for 6wks. So I thought what a great idea it would be to disconnect my battery so it dosnt die. Well I realized that when I get back I have no way of getting in my trunk without power. No key hole on the trunk-No way to put the seats down cause the latches are in the trunk. Button doesn't work without power. Soo I'm guessing that my only option is to pop the hood assuming that works without power and jump the car from the engine bay..

I'll deal with this when I return but for now wanted to hear the best solution and to put this out there for others. Although I may just be the only one that didn't think this through

Yea I remember seeing a positive terminal in the engine bay and then just find a ground and should be good right?

Or use the actual grounding lug under the hood?

The yellow arrow in this pic.

put your key in the key hole and twist. the keyhole is next to the pad you press to unlock the trunk from the outside.

He disconnected the battery.

Can you put a jump start source on the terminals in the engine bay, and have that provide enough power to unlock the trunk?

Thanks.

I just changed my battery and and didn't realize what i did until i closed my trunk. There is a key hole underneath that will manually unlock when you turn your key. no power needed. 100 percent sure it works i just did it. Is there no key hole on the 2 series?

You should be able to flip down the ski pass-through and, using the glow-in-the-dark emergency release handle, open the trunk. If you are small enough you might be able to actually climb through to access it. But if not then you could reach your arm through, or perhaps use a clothing hanger or other makeshift tool to grab onto it.

Now, I am not personally familiar with the F2x 2 Series, so I am making the assumption that the pass-through is similar to the 3 and 4 Series. I am also making the assumption that you don't have a ski bag installed which would block the passage.

Indeed there is not. BMW phased out the trunk keyhole on all models a few years ago.

I'm not sure about a pass through your talking about. My F22 m235i is my first BMW
To my knowledge there is no way to access my trunk with out power. No key hole to my knowledge on my trunk. The only way to release the back seats is a lever inside the trunk.

Guys you don't need to disconnect the battery to let the car sit..... I had my 2er stored away from 1st of November to 1 of april during the winter time here in Sweden it started without a problem, Otherwise you have a faulty battery.

Sadly, in the US, the 2-series has neither a trunk keyhole nor a pass-thru from the trunk, and thus no ski-bag option. Lots o' decontenting.

They did away with the trunk key lock on the LCI 1ers. My 2013 does not have one.

Just get 1 of these https://www.ecstuning.com/News/Schwa...eight_Charger/

I bought 1 for all 3 of my trucks and it will start a dead battery in seconds no matter how drained the battery may be. You can also use it to charge iPhone, iPad's etc.
