those who have had more than one set of PSSs
What are some real world results on how long Pilot Super Sports last on a RWD 335i? I have seen some 30k reviews online....
I scrapped my original RE050A's at 50k. Since I don't really drive my car in the winter, I would estimate the snows have taken 7k if that, so I got 43k on the RE050A's. My hunch is it's not realistic to expect a PSS to do that. But by Michelin's standards, a 300 treadwear is pretty generous....I know you cannot cross-compare them among different mfgs, but the RE050A's are 140.... |

Driven even somewhat agressively you should get 25-30k from the rear PSS. I posted this previously:

22-24k for rears here with -2.5 negative camber previously, which was too aggressive IMO.

I got20-25k typically from the rears. 30-35k fronts. Got under 15k for both sets of continentals and various others I had in max summer category. Set #11 tire wise. &ad 4 pss sets. Best I've had. Also had kumho & bridgestone. I'm on Bridgestone Potenza RE11 tires now as I need more grip. Hoping to get 15k. Hoping. Lol.

It was mentioned here very very long ago how treadwear cannot be used across brands, which I have found from experience to be the case. Note the PSSs are 300 AA A, yet the RE050A's are 140 A A. Still, seems that the RE050As potentially last longer... |

I had re050a and really couldn't wait to get them off. This was on an infiniti g35 I had. At the time I switched to ps2 tires and they were at the time the best. As for treadwear I don't remember. But I do know the pss have double the warrantied treadle of the rest of the group so I would expect that to be a real way to test vs other tires in the category. My pss have always lasted 50%+ longer than any of the others I've tried.

18,000 on rears with staggered setup. At 27,000 on fronts with 4/32 left. Close to change on the fronts. I just had to replace one of the fairly new rears (8200 miles) due to sidewalk puncture. It had 6/32 left.

Perfect example - First non-factory tires I had on this car were Yokohama AD08's. My favorite tire by a long shot - easily better than the PSS. However, they are great for 5-7k miles, become miserable to drive on and pretty much done by 10k. |

Are you talking about the RE050A RFT? 43k miles out of those is amazing. I got 17k miles out of the original RE050A RFT rears on my 135is before they were down to 4/32 and they were already getting squirrely at that tread depth.
