Autotrader valuations?
so everytime I do a valuation lately on AT the value is quite a lot lower then what everybody is asking. The price my car is worth around £14-£15k they are giving me a valuation of around £11600!!!
are the valuations something to go off or are they just not right? |

Agreed. 20 years ago these "valuations" made sense. In modern times everyone has access to a vast amount of market prices and can pretty much judge for themselves.

Also if you're considering part exchange with a dealer be aware that some of them take various valuations and use the lowest as the price they will offer you for your car. If you argue they revert to some random valuations company which is closed off to the public
Did it to my parents when they were PX'ing my Honda to get a car for themselves. First pulled up westealyourcar valuation which was peanuts, then when my dad did the same for the one they were selling and said compare like for like they pulled out something else and then a 3rd one after that Obviously not all used car dealers are like that but fight your corner and get as close to market value as you can |

Aren't Autotrader's prices based on average selling prices?
Are you comparing like for like? Not comparing a private sale against a dealer for example? Asking prices are one thing, selling prices are another. |

AT's prices seem low to me, they don't seem to take into account spec either. As I'm sure everyone appreciates, a basic e9x is a very different car to one with heated leather, pro nav, upgraded stereo, wheels etc.
AT value my 2010 e92 325d at between £10-11k. Car has 69k, hi-fi stereo, pro nav, DAB, heated leather, full electric memory seats, 19" 313's. Valuation wise, it is hard to say as 325d prices seem to be all over the show, however I suspect £13k is something like. |
