Sos function is no longer supported by BMW.
(in older cars)
But if you want to stop the SOS error you either have to
do the coding or parallel mount the original head unit in
the trunk.

head unit

Best to take it to a local coder if you don't want to learn
coding.

Also without the original head unit mounted BMW will not
be able to repair or update the software in your car.
This is another reason to do a parallel mount.

Must put the stock stereo back on to code it out. I'm located in San Diego and have removed many SOS errors.

Really? Why is this?

I was just trying to code it out tonight and wrote to KOMBI many times, but the TCM_ codes would not stick. Was wondering why.

TCUM, Change E-CALL-HARDKEY from aktiv to nicht_activ. KOMBI, Change TCM_ALIVE and TCM_ID to nicht_aktiv.

Just wanted to update everyone else with my experience. You do not need the head unit in the car to code out the SOS error. I wasn't using an NCS expert profile that had MAN file changes enabled.
