Can I run a higher aspect ratio on sport suspension?

I'm really not good with tire numbers so I'm hoping you guys can help. I have the following setup on my car:

Alufelgen SF-71
F: 19x8.5 +35
R: 19x9.5 +35

I'm currently running 265/30/19 on the rear right now but I was wondering if I can fit a 265/35/19?

How about a 275/35/19? Would it rub on hard launches if I went this route? I'm on stock sport suspension. 2008 E92.

Thanks!

It's key to either match or be as close to the OE tire diameter as possible. Aspect ratio (sidewall) of the tires you listed are too tall and will rub. Taking into consideration the rear wheel spec, 265/30/19 or 275/30/19 would be the best option being that its closest to OE diameter. 275/30 is also the widest you could go without having to do any modification.

OE rear tire diameter: 25"

---
265/30/19: 25.3"
275/30/19: 25.5"
---
265/35/19: 26.3"
275/35/19: 26.6"

what size are your front tires?

From personal experience, the tallest you can really go is about 25.7''. That's about .4 inches taller than stock.

If you're looking to get a little more height, a 275/30-19 rear tire in addition to being wider than 265/30-19 will also be a bit taller. Sidewalls in tire sizes are expressed as a percentage of the width. 265/30 tire means the sidewall is 30% of the 265 mm width, or 79.5 mm. Going to 275/30 the sidewall becomes 82.5 mm. Overall diameter would increase by a total of 6 mm. Not much, but something.

I have 275/30-19 Kumho PS91 on 19x9.5 +32 in the rear. I'm lowered and with -2 degrees negative camber I get the very slightest amount of rubbing on certain really huge bumps. Your wheels have 3 mm of additional fender clearance compared to me so that little difference could be all that's needed.

Thanks guys! I think I'll play it safe and stick with the 30 for aspect ratio.

Is aspect ratio the proper term for this?

Yup. It's literally a ratio of the width that determines the sidewall height.

Definitely. I had a change of heart and decided to go more economical for the following reasons. I don't think I'll gain any reasonable traction with the amount of power I'm making on a 19 inch rim. The sidewall is just not big enough. I may get rid of my 19s in the future and opt for 18s, at which point I'll be buying some really sticky tires.

I ended up buying two Nitto NT555 275/30/19 tires for $300 shipped. I figure installation is about $50 so at $350 it's still $250-300 cheaper than a "good" tire. I honestly don't race very often and never track the car but given my mods I make pretty good power so I thought it would be cool to be able to utilize it from a dig. Long story short, I got smart and decided to defer my "good" tire purchase for some time in the future when I have the correct rim size.

Not bad at all. 275's are even better!
