VIN Format

I've just got my VIN from BMW genius and the number doesn't work with online checkers...

I've only got a 10 digit number, the 7th from last character is a number. Is there a character missing, or is my 5055 status too early for VIN checking?

The last 7 digits are all you need, but the first one should be a letter, probably K meaning that it is being built in the Munich plant. I got my last 7 digits yesterday and my build was on 5100, it checked out online too using bimmer.work

It should be something like WBA8B32030KXXXXXX

Thanks, it looks like I've just git the first 10 digits, and not the useful last 7...

The last 7 digits are the unique ones to your car and can start with a number or letter depending on model. I think 5055 is too early for a full VIN, maybe from 5500 onwards HTH

VIN is allocated at status 5050 so if the OP is at status 5055 then the VIN will already have been allocated - just get onto your sales guy if the Genius isn't playing ball
