Rear Facing Dash Cam Attachment

Does anyone have any advice for the best way to attach a rear facing dash cam in a touring?

At the moment, the one I have is attached using a double sided sticky pad which has to attach to the headliner. It was originally stuck to the glass but I opened the top part of the boot and the short wire didn't have enough slack. Although the sticky pad holds it for a while, it's not long before there's a dangling dash cam.

I've toyed with the idea of making a mount but I'm not sure I'd have the skill or materials to make a suitable job of it.

I used a 38mm mild steel right angled bracket and bent it into shape (folded it so that it was almost 180 degrees rather than 90), cut one of the metal sides to reduce its length, slid the bracket so that the headlining fits in the resulting gap, then used strong gel tape to stick the upper side of the bracket (the longer one) to the underside of the roof. Then stuck the camera mounting plate to the exposed part of the bracket.

It works really well, and the camera is rock solid.

Photo of the finished job are attached.

That sounds exactly how my mind was picturing it, I can't see the photos but I'm on the app so I don't know if they're just not showing up on here. I'll try to log into the main computer later and see if I can see them there

Hi Graham,

That would be great thanks! It would be the weekend before I'd have a chance to do anything anyway so it's ideal timing.

Do you mean to face back out of the rear window....rather than face back from the Dash showing everyone inside the car?

Yes, facing back out of the rear window rather than looking to see inside the car

Trying the photos again.

Edit - photo upload from App clearly not working.
