1 series winter wheels on F31

I'm new to the F31 fold so be gentle!
Come from an E87 123D - great engine a v reliable, now have a B47 engined 320D SE LCI. std brakes on 18" turbine style wheels.
I still have my 17" winter wheels with nearly new michelin Alpin tyres.
Was going to sell with the car but the buyer was a bit on the rough side so decided I didn't want him seeing inside my garage as I have a few 'toys' in there
I am aware the wheel bolts went from 12-14mm on the F30 but think they will still fit through the wheel holes, the obvious answer is to see if they fit but is there any other issue as I don't want to do something stupid and unsafe.
Also the tyres are 225/45 17. The recommended size for 17's is 225/50 so I am approx 4% smaller circumference. Not overly worried as dont do a huge mileage in the winter obviously a bit of speedo error, slightly higher rpm etc.
Since its an 8AT I wonder if the transmission control unit may not like it?

Can obviously sell them in the autumn on gumtree/ebay & buy a new set but I own these so keeping them if it is safe to use them is the the easier option.
What do you experts think?

If you can't use them, I have a set of 400m wheels you can use as winters for sale

I think the offest on the 1 series is different, so they'd be putting stresses on the suspension and steering.

Thanks so far, I don't think a different offset would stress the suspension otherwise all the guys fitting spacers etc would be as well?
More likely if the offset is wrong is that they will either stick out beyond the wheelarch--illegally or be too far in and foul the caliper or wheelarch.
Was going to rotate the wheels after another thousand miles as the rears are more worn than the fronts so may do a trial fit of a winter wheel then.

Siross what price/condition etc for the wheels as could be an option although for winters 17's are probably better.

Any other thoughts?

18" with winter tyres will be great. 17" wheels will look too small

Thanks Siross.
I will see how I go trial fitting a wheel in due course.
The 400m's are nice wheels however I really wouldn't want a staggered winter set up and think the 255 rear rims would be too wide to stick a 225 on.
Do you know the J width of the rims, it should be stamped onto the centre hub or on the back of one of the spokes. Fronts will be 8ish and rears 8 1/2 or 9ish then I can check tyre width fitment range.

Hi mate, info here:

Front: 8 J x 18. Rear: 8.5 J x 18. Single wheel, without tyre. Not for BMW 320i EfficientDynamics (model-dependent), 320d EfficientDynamics, M3 and M4.

Thx,

225 will fit. Just priced up winter tyres, for 18's they are £150 each 17's are just over £100
I think I will probably look for a set of 17's tbh as saves £200 on tyres alone and 225's on your 8.5J rim will have absolutely zero kerb protection. No point having 255 winters which is why BMW recommend 225 all round for a winter setup.
I will get back to you if I change my mind.
Thx for your help mate.

I put 225/45/18 winter tyres on 18" m sport alloys 8j front and 8.5j rears no problem for the last 3 winters

No worries mate. Shipping will be around £35 which I'd pay for if they go for £550

I use the winters of my old M135 on my 328. The Wheels do look a bit small on the car and as they are slightly smaller so the speedo is out. Otherwise fine. I had to get a set of Tyre Pressure Monitors fitted to the old wheels.

If they don't I also have a set for sale. These are the genuine BMW winter square setup with tyres and were fitted to my 335d before I traded it for an M4. Full details and photos here...

Rotated my summer wheels today so tried my winter 17's from the 1er and they fit no problem. Plenty of clearance on full lock in both directions. They are style 103 from a Z4. The ET is 47 8J the current factory wheels are 415 turbine style 18's 8J ET 34 so the wheel is going to sit 13mm closer in to the strut hence checking on full lock, there was still 1.5cm of clearance.
These wheels do not have RDC valves so how persistant is the warning I will get?
Hopefully just one bong each time and a warning triangle or will I be lit up like a Christmas tree?

I have 403m 19's and run 17x7.5 with 225/50/17's. No problems at all.
