Penalties under consideration seem inadequate for killing three people due to gross negligence.

It will be interesting to see what the actual sentence is. Please keep us posted. Judges are much too lenient most of the time. I have never gone 115. I think I may have hit 100 once. In an Acura MDX,in Utah. Speed limit 80. Daylight and no other car within sight.

He definitely earned a long prison sentence. Hopefully the judge doesn't shy away from letting it be known that this kind of behavior on public roads will not be tolerated.

too bad he was let off his previous charge due to a technicality. I don't know if that failed citation is admissible material for his current trial, but it should be.

Screw him, he should rot in prison for a long time and have a difficult time putting together a meaningful life even after he gets out, forced to ponder on the consequences of his epically bad choice (I doubt it's the first time) for the rest of his life.

Very, very sad. Hope he gets the max. The girl's brother sounded like a very accomplished young man headed for great things. What a waste from a very careless individual.

What a terrible and tragic story. The worst part is that it was totally avoidable. I understand the driver having remorse but traveling at 115 mph on a public road is absolutely insane. Sounds like he got off a couple of times because his Dad has a good lawyer. I hope the judge throws the book at him.

Really hope the judge makes an example of him, unlike the guy in the Stanford rape case who got a slap on the wrist. Kid did something horribly stupid and some people will make the case that it shouldn't ruin his life, but that doesn't hold much water compared to the girl who was on a family outing and had her life destroyed through no fault of her own.

Really as much of the Fathers fault in my mind. Why would you lend your son that car with the driving record he had. Either the Son is a sociopath or has mental problems (add, adhd) to be traveling those speeds on that road. Whatever punishment he gets wont bring anyone back, 4 lives ruined in 2 seconds.

Age is not a fair barometer of maturity. My GF has a 21 year old and he's basically a small child with a kickass handlebar mustache (total hipster) who is completely incapable of making any adult decisions. Sure the driver in question is legally an adult and should be treated as such, but I don't view 20 as necessarily beyond doing dumb stuff that's why I said kid. Granted this is insanely stupid and not your usual crap college kids tend to do, but still I think there's a lot of blame to go around. Driver obvs, father who never let the little prince have any consequence for anything, etc etc etc.

People do stupid things when they are young, unfortunately some of those things end up this sad way for everyone.

I've done ton of stupid crap before and I guess I am lucky I didnt hurt anyone or myself (well besides my permanent wrist injury)

Shit, recently a big franchise dealer owner (in his 50s) crashed his Ferrari speeding, killed himself and his passenger friend

I live very close to where this occurred and went to the neighboring high school close to the schools the article mentioned.

River Rd. is a busy local road in the DC metro suburbs. If I was going 80 on it, it'd already feel uncomfortably dangerous...can't even imagine how anyone with a just a shred of sense can double that.

Sadly, not surprised. This is a very rich area of the mid-Atlantic and a lot of rich "affluenza" fucks without an ounce of worth...as evidenced by the perp in the article.
