Another 8AT question.
Was wondering,
There is a mechanical 'kick down' point just before the end of the throttle travel like all automatics have. My question is if you apply throttle up to but not beyond that point do you have max throttle, ie 100% power & torque available for the current rpm? I would think yes & that the last bit of travel merely forces the transmission to kick down to an even lower gear if available. I particularly enjoy riding the wave of torque in a diesel especially after remapping and eco pro has its uses as you can get a decent shove without feeling like a boy racer with it downshifting several gears. |

Yes you have WOT (full throttle) without using kick-down.
Kick-down is a feature of the speed of accelerator pedal movement, kick-fast, (or similar naming with the 8-speed) and gearbox programming. The way you use kick-down can give very aggressive 'block' changes, even 8th to 2nd on an rapid kick-down. |

I find that even in comfort it will kick down without hitting the kickdown point on the throttle.
If I want to ride the torque, I usually just stick it in manual. |
