My US car is "in production" - anyone else?

OK, so I was just emailed by my dealer saying my car is "in production" and it has a VIN. Not sure exactly what that means for timing but it's a good sign. Anyone else hear anything yet?

That's great news. Now that a VIN is assigned, you should be able to track production online (typically 7-10 days behind) or the dealer can track (typically 3-4 days behind).

Right now, the first 80 US cars have been completed and 30 additional cars have received VINs and are in some stage of production. Once the car is completed, expect 6-8 weeks for delivery.

Yeah that's about right. My CA was looking things up on his computer while I was there and about 100 US are going to be completed in the next few weeks. I am wondering amongst the vouchers who has the earliest production week?

Is your car a voucher car or dealer allocation?

September build - Dealer allocation

Any idea of how long after build it will take to arrive on U.S.A. shores?

I have a production number and a build week but nothing more than that yet.

Side question: has anyone been able to successfully add an M4 GTS production number into their BMWUSA.com account?

No success for me either. I'm still 111 status.

Week 37 production - voucher for me - was told by BMW USA VIP Ordering Specialist that it was the earliest production week for the color chosen - FDG!

Apparently, some completed cars have been sitting at the various ports since early May!

What's the launch plan? Individually or Mass? If it's a mass launch, based on my production week, that would be mid-October! And all these will be '16's with some being produced as early as April! WTF!

IMO BMWAG has totally bungled this launch!

It's no secret that all the M4 GTS will be model year 2016 and production goes from March to December of this year. On average, 5 will be built each working day.

No idea why they are holding US cars, but the rest of the world got deliveries already.

I heard dealers cars are being built/delivered first followed,by vouchers cars. Makes sense to take the he sting off dealers only able to mark up 50% of the cars
