MPSS now fitted...
Big difference immediately noticeable. Smoother, in particular much less of a thud vs p zero RFTs when going over sharp/square bumps in the road. Quieter too.
Big improvement relates to confidence on the road. Steering is less corrupted by cambers and bumps on rough roads and feels more naturally weighted. Grip is very strong but again consistent. Not much in the way of steering feel of course but feels more predictable. More confidence in carrying more speed. Grip on acceleration is better too of course. Helps quicker starts eg from junctions. V pleased. Thanks to all those who recommended them. D

I'm surprised you find them quieter. I went from 18" MPSS to 19" P Zero run flats and the P Zeros were much quieter.

Depends on what conditions you compare. I found on smooth tarmac, there is more noise from the MPSS (in comparison to P Zero RF 19"), and I mean only slightly more. But on any kind of rough tarmac, then the sheer amount of vibration that the P Zero transmitted is just not there with the MPSS. On balance I would describe the MPSS as quieter.

There is a fair bit over on the babybm forum about the MPSS being noisy on the M135 and M235i's.

....on concrete sections I can't hear myself think with RF tyres. MPSS are a massive improvement, so again would vote MPSS quieter overall. |

Depends on the frequency. The noise from tyres is to a large extent air being forced from the treads.

RFTs were down to 4mm on back / 6mm on rear. MPSS are the same as I bought second hand (to try them out). Definitely quieter on most surfaces - noticeable most for me on badly scarred surfaces and also on new very smooth Tarmac, when they're whisper quiet (could still hear more roar from RFTs).
Ultimately all a bit subjective, and to be honest even if the noise was no different that wouldn't trouble me. Biggest benefit is the impact on ride and ability to deal with sharp edges hits, the type that would unsettle the car with RFTs on it.

Edit - app said previous post hadn't gone through, but it has! So good I'll say it twice then.
It's definitely quieter on rough surface but also on new smooth tarmac. It's all a bit subjective really but noise was never a key driver for me. The way the tyres deal with square edged hits (that would unsettle the RFTs) is the key improvement for me. Better steering dynamics and greater confidence in the car

Good point, as many make the "smoother, quieter, more grip" comment, when moving from one tyre to another. I'm not saying the OP won't have had that experience, many of us have. But, how about when we change 'like for like' on a car, simply replacing old for new? I did this with my car, replacing with the same run-flats, (Conti Sport Contact 3). I can make the same claim, "smoother, quieter, more grip". Oh, and better steering precision. Factors we have to keep in mind; typically tyres get noisier with wear, run-flats do seem to work harden, (get stiffer and less grip). Wear patterns, (even if we can't see them) can take away from steering precision. Over my many years of driving, I can't recall a time when a new tyre didn't feel better to drive on than the ones taken off. BTW, I'd be on MPSS if I wanted to be rid of run-flats. |

We have just changed a full set of conti's on a 330d X drive. They had done 18k miles and were three quarter worn. But the noise from the front after 10k miles. I swear you would have thought the front diff was on the way out. Now on Good Years. It's like a library inside now.

Just bought two new rear MPSS for mine today and there was no mention that they would soon be discontinued.
