Buckled wheel and claiming off Hertfordshire council?

I hit a large pot hole last week and noticed since then a vibration at 70mph so I took the wheel off today. Definitely buckled

Anyone know the cheapest place to get a 403M wheel? Must be pristine.

Also does anyone have experience of claiming off Hertfordshire Council? Are they likely to pay up if I send them the invoice? The tyre looks ok but I can't be sure.

I'm sure I've heard somewhere that the pot hole as to have been reported before, then the council have so long to repair it then if it isn't done and a car receives damage from it then you can claim. I think

I hit one about 6 weeks back in my six and it destroyed my front tyre but didn't buckle the wheel fortunately and I've sent off all the details to the council to cover the costs incurred etc but stupidly I didn't think of the back wheel as I had a very slight shake before the incident and was going to get it balanced, but didn't get round to it until last week as I've been super busy etc so last week I had the tyre place balance it and guess what my rear wheel is buckled grrr

Do you know where the pothole is? It's better to take a picture of the offending hole too (if it's safe to do so) . If you can, put something, like your keys, next to it to give it some scale.

I realise that you only discovered the problem after the event but the council will ask the question. It there eyes, you could of hit a pothole anywhere, maybe not even in Hertfordshire.

Depends on how it's been classified CAT1 - 24hrs form discovery to repair (This means the council has official recorded it) If you are the first to report it, they didn't know about it and are not liable. Any damage after the 24hr period from a recorded CAT 1 they are liable for.

Some councils have fudged what is a CAT 1 to avoid this and categorised them as CAT 2, with a longer period to repair or delay them becoming CAT 1's

I claimed of Abergavenny council for a new wheel and tyre for my A8 Sport 4.2TDI, big whole on the road ripped off the guys wheel in front of me and cracked my wheel too.
Cost them £1100 + fitting.
No arguments either, I phoned the local police to add to my case.

Thanks guys. The road was between London Colney and Colney Heath. It was about 10 days ago and I noticed on Friday they have filled it in now. I do however have the dash cam footage of hitting it.

Herts is actually pretty good for online services like reporting potholes. I don't have the address (see if you can find it in google) but when you go to report the pothole, it brings up an OS like map and also shows existing reported potholes. You could probably use that to see if it has been reported and I can't remember if it also gives a reference number if it has been reported already.

A lot of "I think" but I haven't used it in a while so I hope it helps

If it was the A414 it may be Highways England and not Hert's CC you need to speak to.

No, it was a country lane, not the A414.
