Question

Hi,

Is this better or more functional than the normal EBT with voice control and USB? The wireless charging variant is cheaper (and comes with Wifi hotspot functionality) - the fact that it's cheaper would suggest not as good.

As always, BMW website is shite for explaining the features and dealers know less than the website

No idea. But it's newer and I've ordered it!

Maybe it replaces the snap in adapter preparation, just a guess?

Makes sense. No adapter so cheaper, as long as it keeps the other functions from EBT. Not ordering for a bit so time to find out. Thanks.

I actually thought it had gone up to £470 ish (may be on the X5).

I looked and the wireless charging cradle and didn't like the way it worked - the phone slides into a small pocket on the side of the armrest 'bin' and I thought the phone would end up getting scratched, I also use the Apple almost 'rubberised' cases which won't slide in.

Oh, that an my phone doesn't support wireless charging , yet.

I genuinely think teaston's active mount dash setup is more user friendly so I'm going to look into that for the new car.

The only thing about those Brodit mounts is that they have only made ones that cover air vents and I'm really not a fan of that. In my E92 I had one that clipped on near the idrive controller, down towards the passenger footwell.

So what if it covers half of one of the vents? There's 3 other vents!

Looking at the pics on the 3 series, the wireless charging bit looks to be under the centre armrest (where the snap-in adapter is). That'll do for me.

I don't like extraneous stuff on the console so a Brodit mount would piss me right off.

Current lease not due to end until March 17 so no rush to order and I'm hanging on for the G30 too and potentially the 540e
