Build brought forward and iDrive 5 confirmed from start of July.

Hi guys

Just some information for all you guys waiting like me.

I've been pestering BMW Genius and it looks like my car has been moved to 1200 and brought forward by 4-6 weeks! Scheduled to be built at the end of the month and arriving at dealer mid August, instead of the end of September as per my documents.

Also, they confirmed iDrive 5.0 cars are already in production, from start if this month. No info on CarPlay though.

So, the sensible 340i Touring may actually arrive before the baby...

Very interesting. I am about to order a 4-series GC. Do you happen to know if they are receiving iDrive 5.0 as well?

I think the previous announcements have covered all 3 and 4 series pro-media models. So, you should certainly get it in a factory order. Stock cars or base spec could be older...

The 4GC is a seriously nice car. Possibly the very nicest shape in the range... But, test drive proved it wasn't that much more pram friendly than our saloon.

Thanks a lot for confirming. Mine is intended to be a factory order so it's nice to know that it will have this extra treat.

Agree, the 4GC is very nice looking and comes with a good standard spec as well. I'm excited...

Seems my order has moved forward too.

Original build week was the 15 August, now the 25th July. Delivery mid August.

Hey Rich - I just checked Genius to see if I'd made it to 5000 and...I'm back at 1100

WTF!!! Apparently it's now build wk 38 (19th Sept) with delivery wk 41 (3rd Oct). Already emailed my dealer to find out what's going on....perhaps worth checking your order too?

I hope it's just a blip for you and you get back on track!

I've just checked and I'm still 1200 for week 30 build.

I can't remember your spec, any potentially difficult spec items? My spec is quite normal with no individual items.

Also, my dealer didn't have any 340i Touring allocations left and had to swap off another dealer, so maybe I jumped the queue...

Maybe it'll be a good excuse to go for a spin at night to help the baby sleep. Think Volkswagen had an ad like that a while back.

The touring is very practical, will carry everything you need-not as big as my past f11 but still got most of a kitchen in there!

Individual leather dash. But I did order in Feb, so it's not like they haven't had chance to plan for it! Still at 1100 today and am awaiting a call back from my dealer.

Any update on your order? Gone to 5000 yet?

really looking forward to the idrive 5.0, they actually moved my build slot back into June and I refused it based on the fact I explicitly stated it had to have idrive 5.0. Should now be built the end of this week and I should be able to share some idrive 5.0 thoughts with the forum when it arrives 1st week Aug.

You know it will be well worth the wait. That individual dash will be that extra touch of luxury for you.

I didn't check my status again today... I'm trying to limit myself to a few times a week...

But, I did contact a Gtechniq detailer for a quote... Baby vs car cleaning time may not work out too well... So, I may have to give up on DIY for this one. Especially if the car and baby arrive too class together... No chance of me spending the time detailing it. Shame, I ache like hell afterwards but kind of enjoy doing it... Very satisfying!

Biogeny Thanks for the reassurance about the practicality and looking forward to your grand reveal of iDrive 5.0! It seems like you may well even be the first on here.
