Breakdown cover
For all those not with BMW assist, who do you use for breakdown cover? My AA renewal came through at £175 and seems like a lot compared to others on the market (I got it cheap with the car last year).
Any recommendations, or providers to avoid? Allianz, rescuemycar.com and green flag are all half the price of the AA with all the options ticked. |

I pay £37.24 for the Comprehensive BMW extended warranty which includes the BMW assist.
You could argue that I could put that away for repairs, but having read posts recently about 328 N20's having issues with timing chains, it gives me piece of mind that I am covered if something happens. Maybe worth considering? |

Nationwide Flex Plus Account. For £10/month you get UK & European breakdown and recovery assistance and a bunch of other really good benefits including worldwide travel insurance, mobile phone insurance etc. So for £120/year, I've already covered the cost of the account. I don't work for Nationwide.

Yep
When I rang up to cancel it, the RAC were please no, you have been a member since 1990 (or something like that) and said they would give me an option of £5 per year for just roadside recovery to home if I did not cancel. I had to think long and hard for that one lol. |

Was with Rescue My Car on the previous car I had. Full nationwide cover including home start for something like £30 a year. Car didn't start the once so called them out. Chap came round within the hour and sorted the car out on the drive.
Got my mum's car with them also (3rd year now I believe) and that wouldn't start a couple of months back. Didn't realise when I sorted it out this time they've got two options now. One with an excess to pay (cheaper option) or one without the excess (slightly more pricey). Had to pay the excess but still, cheaper than what AA or RAC charged for the same amount of cover. Would definitely recommend. |
