Left Side of Black Panel Display

Still getting use to my new car with Pro Media. What is supposed to be displayed in the left hand side of the Black Panel Display within Instrument Cluster? (Under Speedometer)

Not seen anything in there yet

You won't, it's blank. Most annoying part of the interior for me

It is an oddity that nothing is displayed there, as the 5-series is full of stuff in the same place.

Yeah, not much of a black panel display at all. Surprised BMW didn't offer the same full black panel as the 5-series.

Not much point now we have HUD, can't say I ever look at the dials except for fuel level!

Not everyone has HUD.

I use both, a good clear instrument display/binnacle is part of the driving experience for me, all adds to the interior ambience.

But if they don't spec HUD they only have themselves to blame!

Active cruise control, tells you the sensor can detect a car in front.

Active Cruise Control. More trouble than it's worth.

That black panel is poor on the 3 series and very Fisher-Price, it should be integrated across the bottom and blend into the rev and speedo.

Must admit HUD I will miss (can't believe it's not an option on a 1er, it would be a big winner), but I'll be smug in being able to give m3 and m4's a hard time at a much cheaper price tag. There's always a bright side!

Oh, and looking forward to destroying those upstart 335d's

Matter of personal preference tbh, I find it great for when you're in traffic.

Garage List
Assume BMW is going to go the same way as Audi with their new digital cockpit.
