After trading in my 435i for a 340i F31 I planned to remove my old F750 dashcam and reinstall it in the new car.
After speaking the Chameleon (where I bought the F750 from) it has proven cheaper to install the brand new F770 rather than have the engineer take out the old and reinstall it again. This was down to the extra discount I managed to negotiate over the phone with them. This was also the first F770 in the UK (arrived through customs Wed, shipped to me Thus and installed on Fri) First impressions are excellent, the image quality is a big step on from the F750 - the rear camera is also now HD which makes a huge difference. The dark evening mode gives the images better clarity in low light situations. The memory looks to be bigger now too. Not tested the collision and lane alert system - I have already have that pack on the car and it irritates me so I've started to switch off! The Speed Camera Alert update is again accurate especially on the M3 and A3 where new cameras are being installed through London. It also uses the same app as the F750. The unit is a lot sleeker and doesn't stick out on as much on the front screen as the f750 did The only irritation is the WiFi connectivity to the iphone app - it takes a lot of faffing like the F750. Also with the touring, I now have to disconnect the cable from the rear camera if I want to open the glass section of the tailgate. I'll probably relocate the camera to the inside roof once the new sticky pads from eBay turn up... All in all, I'm pleased with the system and I still believe Thinkware produce the best dash cam's on the market. Also Chameleon organised the same engineer to install the new cameras as before which was a bonus as he was the BMW specialist. If you would like his direct details, do let me know. Pictures to follow... I will also be selling the old F750 front and rear can (without the wiring looming) in the classified section.

Chris,
You need one of these brackets making that a fellow member made himself and shared the details on here somewhere. Perfect for the rear view camera. I had one made for my camera. I have the F750 hardwired, but I don't suffer any of the DAB interference that some have experienced. It just slides under the roof lining. Very neatly. I powder coated mine black to make it match my camera and roof lining. Last edited by 335d Touring Xdrive; 07-02-2016 at 09:50 AM.. |

Just had a look at the F770, certainly looks nice and slim and a decent evolution on the F750 I have. It uses the same full HD rear camera and most specs unchanged so the slim design and time lapse options are the 'must haves'.
A bit annoying they've change the side for power/rear camera inputs as mine is nice and neat today - editing the same side as the lens means the cables would show Also, the SD car slot on the top? Why?? Means you can't mount it close to the headliner, or you need to unclip the camera to remove it (like I have it). Decent price too. Might get one for the new car! Once question - is parking mode still built in? I.e. no need for power magic device still?

Way to avoid dab issues is to mount camera slightly off centre so the lens itself is central and run the cable via the carpet and on passenger side not the headlining . That and fit suppresors front and rear of cable.
Works on my Blackvue

I have no dab issues. Just fitted ferrite clamps.

Chris330 interesting it has a speed camera detector built in. I currently have a separate Road Angel and it would be nice to have just one unit.
Does it beep for all cameras or only when you are over the speed limit? Lots of the apps I've tried don't work well with the variable speed limit cameras on Motorways as they only beep over 70mph.
