Nail in the tyre

I found out today that the slow leak in my run-flat is a nail.

I popped into Kwik-fit and they said they can repair it because it's a run-flat.

Before I spend a few hundred on a new tyre I just want to make sure they're not pulling the wool over my eyes

Don't take it to them. A local indi garage will fix it. I've had my run flat repaired

I guess you meant can't?

Yes you can get it repaired as long as the tyre hasn't been run on zero or very low pressure? And if it's not too close to the sidewall, same as with a non rft.

Exactly. The reason they refuse is because they don't know how it's been driven since picking up the nail and losing pressure. But you do and if it's a slow puncture then hardly a problem.

This is the problem with the big outlets who say "Not company policy"
Would rather sell you a new tyre at inflated prices (No pun intended )
than a perform a perfectly acceptable repair , providing its ok to do so

I've also had mine repaired, twice. Both backs done by a local garage who I've used for tyres since owning a car. I have tried other garages and no one else in my area will repair them. They've always said that they cannot guarantee I have not driven on it flat and damaged the side wall.
Ditching the runflats for some Sport Maxx RT2's at a good price of £76.00 per corner next week when I get my alloys refurbed.

Etyres will repair on your driveway for 25 quid. They did mine and managed to not mark the rim either.

Thanks everyone!

The nail is in the middle of the centre tread.

The car picked up the flat at 26 psi so definitely not run on empty.

I'll take it to a local garage tomorrow morning but if they can't help I'll try etyres

Let them do it, they did a good job on my X6 rear, no problems at all.
