- This happened today (see top right @ 16%, is this map update or software as well?)
- I didn't initiate it, it was automatic (as per BMW brochure!) - It took about 90 minutes to complete, I was driving the whole time. - Anyone know how often BMW update maps or how they distribute them? Surely not everyone today. - Would have been nice to get a summary of updates e.g. countries updated, POIs added, enhancements etc. |

Yes its really cool isn't it. With Id5 'learning' your preferred routes too I really cant see what could be improved. Very clever.
Agree it would be good to know what updates are applied, or using a bit of AI which in your area.

RTTI covering more than just A roads. This is a joke on such an expensive system.
TomTom and Waze shame it on traffic. And yes I'm bitter as yesterday it took me into standstill traffic on a B road because it knew nothing about it |

Maybe B roads do have cameras but don't think I've seen a lot?

Actually, it's pretty pants. It only updates UK & IE OTA, so you still need to do the ~30GB download if you want full Europe... Don't really see the point of OTA updates, if you don't get the full update.

There will always be better after market systems but they are not tidy. The real comparison to make is amongst built-in versions e.g. iDrive vs MB's Comand vs Audi's MMI. The BMW wins for me.

Yeah but after 3 years its 50 quid a year for RTTI. Waste of money.
Tom Tom uses data from other users as well as the established issues, I believe BMW does this too, but for whatever reason does not work with B roads, its dumb. Waze uses established data and other users reporting things as they happen, I think Tom Tom Live Traffic and Waze are very close as being the best systems to avoid traffic. Neither have to be untidy as you can just run them on an App on your phone mounted in your car anyway, like I have mine in a Belkin cupholder mount. |

Mine did this yesterday as well, I was wondering if it was only relevant to learned routes as it only took about 10 mins to download. I restarted the nav whilst driving as well, no probs but didn't know what was updated, we have loads of work around the Forth Road Bridge and I cross it often.

Much prefer my old TomTom for live traffic. It very rarely got it wrong and as already mentioned it covered a lot more than just A roads and motorways. I often ignore the small re-routes offered by BMW as so often in the past it's dumped me in solid traffic.

Sounds like you're across on the continent a lot and need to update further but I doubt that's ever needed for most of us.

No. Thats the firmware versions.
When on the map, click option and it should show the version number at the bottom. I'd guess it would be something like 2016 - 1.

Having come from the UK, I can assure its no different here in NL and the mainland, RTTI dumps me straight into horrific traffic jams too. I love the widescreen in my current f10, but it's abilities are rubbish when we compare to tomtom for instance. Not bad for 3k here!
