Multiple Exhaust Options, which to choose?

As the title of the thread describes it.

I'm at a 3-way crossroads, I can't decide which exhaust system to choose from

Option 1: MPE ( BMW Port Install)
  • Pro-Ease of Installation( Port install, BMW certified)
  • Pro-Track Mode Feature( Is it even useful, can someone comment on if it sounds that much better)
  • Con- No DownPipe upgrade

Option 2: FabSpeed
  • Pro-Sounds great
  • Pro-Manufactured in the US, quality looks great. Re
  • Pro- Downpipe available
  • Con- No Track mode feature ( Again not sure if this is even that much usefull)

Option 3: Akropovic
  • Pro- Sounds great looks great and has a track mode to leave the flaps fully open
  • Pro- has a downpipe upgrade
  • Con- Cost is rather high
I'm leaving Akropovic as a maybe while it looks and sounds absolutely fantastic I'm not sure I can justify spending $6000 on the exhaust and another $1400 on the diffuser. I'ts basically double the price of both the previous options.

If anyone has opinions/suggestions or comments on how to possible help me in my quest for an upgraded exhaust system i would really appreciate it.

Thanks for any feedback
Dan

Don't write off the stock exhaust, it really is the loudest and most tuned stock i have ever heard. Maybe worth a listen, especially in MDM mode where the pops are at the loudest!

Downside with the MPE it has the bluetooth button...stock uses the driving modes?

My other thought is a sports cat and keep the standard?

MDM mode is that basically sport mode?

Also i thought the MPE used the bluetooth while in sport mode to give you the track mode feature. Other then tapping the bluetooth button it should still use the driving modes? I might be wrong, looking for a little clarification.

That's one of the reasons i like the FabSpeed it seems like a direct swap from the stock exhaust, at a very reasonable price, plus i can add a downpipe.

This is my understanding. Think of the stock BMW driver experience modes as controlling the engine and how much overrun/gases you get from the engine. Comfort/Sport/Sport+.

The MPE is applied down stream and can be Street or Track for the exhaust.

So is you make the engine tamer if you put it in comfort mode and set the exhaust to street.

So I think there are then 3x2=6 different sounds you can get out of the car.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong! I have yet to get my MPE.

Let me remind or inform you of the BMS Can-Flap mod, opens/closes exhaust, mutes asd, brightens DRLs...

I run that with intake, a tune and catless and the car sounds nd pulls like a beast

I'm not a 100% but from what I've read and researched etc. there isnt modes to adjust exhaust note separately as in comfort for driving but exhaust sport+ kind of thing like you can in the M4. In the M2 with stock exhaust it slightly changes depending on driving mode. with the MPE the only difference is the street and track settings adjustable through the bluetooth app.

+1 - agree 100% sport cat DP and stock exhaust - cheapest and probably net you the most gains in terms of performance too

I have MPE the track mode is good! High quality sound with a little burble. I plan on adding a downpipe to finish off the exhaust system with this car.

installed a 200CEL DP+MPE

sound with valve closed is like before the DP installed but valves opened.

now with the DP and valves opened! its pretty loud, lots over burbling going on. throttle response is better as expected power increase I would think 10-15hp crank.

overall its a good everyday exhaust set up.

the music is solid from the MPE! I've heard a lot of turbo cars not many from a stock supplier off this kind of sound. My past Cayman GTS had PSE and it was good, but wasn't a turbo set up.
