What gets reset when you disconnect the battery?

I know when I disconnect the negative terminal on my battery to do some work on the car, the clock needs to be reset, is there anything else that gets reset computer wise?

I am hoping to reset my rain sensor because I got a new windshield and now I have 1 speed intermittent wipers instead of rain sensing wipers! They used oem BMW labeled glass with the rain sensor and install looks very good.

There is a service function for recalibrating the rain/light sensor via ISTA. If they reused the components for the new windshield, you can encounter problems also.

The only thing you will noticeably lose is time and date but other hidden things like emissions readiness monitors, some adaptations, and initializations are lost. Most systems will go through a self test to re-initialize themselves.

Check the scroll wheel on the right stalk. That controls the sensitivity of the wipers.

I don't think anyone reuses RLS components. They are always new with the windshield.
