First off CONGRATS!!! My dealer just called me said my car will be starting production in the next few weeks also....just a question...is apple CarPlay and Idrive 5.0 an option here? I know the forums are saying July on..was just curious and can't wait till Monday! My original SA apparently left a week ago, and my car status was known about that time. Just hope I'm not too late to add it in if its still an option.

For Canada, MY17 is NOT getting iDrive 5.0.

I have heard the 5.0 software and apple CarPlay may be able to be retrofitted down the road, but unconfirmed at this point.

PS: you can make changes up until they issue you a VIN (1-2 weeks before build starts).

CarPlay is not confirmed specifically for the M2 yet. The latest information is that iDrive 5.0 with CarPlay will be available on 2-series vehicles built during 8/16 (August, 2016) and later.

Speculation is that CarPlay will be available on M2s starting sometime in August, since it's a 2-series vehicle, but that has not yet been confirmed. USA dealers are not yet able to choose CarPlay in their build configuration tools, but they may be able to modify orders to include CarPlay closer to August.

I just got my August build date today and went over the build sheet with my salesman and that definitely has Apple Car Play

Thanks! My SA is finding out on Monday, if there is no Idrive 5.0 or apple car play I may delay it one slot..:I know crazy. I read there's no definite word on retrofitting. Waited long enough what's another couple of months :0)

No problem! It is a $300 option for the Apple Car Play

Not crazy at all in my opinion, I almost waited until 2018 anticipating an LCI but had an open allocation at my dealer and took advantage. Car is estimated for delivery in October

What are you paying for with the Carplay option? Is it hardware and software or just software?

My SA told me it can be upgraded later on, only a software update; but other people on this forum saying otherwise. Only thing is to wait and see!

In case anyone from canada is reading this thread, my SA told me that their internal bulletin states that Apple Car Play will be retrofitted free of charge by september.

(I have a july build date -MY17 btw)

How can it be "free of charge" when it's an option that you pay for?

Free when you get ZTV option in Canada (Smart Phone).

Sorry should have clarified that the ZTV option was a pre-requisite to get car play (6CP).

I definitely could see Carplay being a dealer retrofit option for iDrive 5.0 due to the relative ease to enable. Also due to number of people having Android with no use for it at optioning time, but sometime later maybe buying an iPhone or for the next owner. Lots of profit potential there.

I was told that production for my car would be end of July, and on my order sheet I dont see Apple CarPlay. I have heard mixed remarks but does anyone know definitively if they can retrofit my car with CarPlay?

Carplay retrofit option is a determined by region. Canada gets it. For USA, they haven't announced availability, but it could eventually be a dealer installable option for some fee. Dealer just obtains an FSC as with maps.

it too was not on my order sheet. But was assured it would be retrofitted (in canada anyways). we shall see
