OBD PID issues

I'm having some issues and I'm hoping someone might be able to help me.

I have a late '06 330D (auto). I've bought an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter and attempted to make use of several apps (torque, torque pro, Carly, OBD doctor etc) on an android tablet.

I'm not having a great deal of luck in reading many PIDs.

I can't even get the coolant temp (mode 1 pid 05)

Does anyone with a similar age vehicle have any problems?

Cheers

Andrew
