Who Has Moved Up On The List?
Just curious...For those of us that are farther back on dealership lists (maybe #15 plus with a deposit down), have you moved up the list over the past couple months as others have dropped out?
For example, I've had a deposit down for 3 months now and at that time I was #17 at a high volume M dealer. Many have speculated on what % of people with a deposit down will eventually drop out, but maybe this thread will help us get an idea. -R |

If we assume the biggest dealership in Dallas, and a list of say 10 people, you're probably looking at 18 months or so. |

That wait time for a list of 50 definitely seems optimistic. |

I'd get on the phone. Anything over a couple ahead of you on the list might mean no car. My dealer has only received 1 single car and zero additional allocations.

Most people that moved up on the list is not because the dealer has received allocations but because people have dropped off the list and got their deposit back.

I have had two sales managers tell me that based on history they expect about 30-40% to drop off of their lists. I am on multiple lists and have a couple of deposits and I clearly only want one car. I am sure I am not the exception so their estimates seem reasonable. The real issue right now is the lack of allocations coming out of BMW, when we see a steady stream of allocations I think we will have a better sense.

I'd say for a car as hard to get as the M2, 30-40% is optimistic. I'd peg the number at 50-60% dropouts at least, especially now with the M240i and the GC coming.

I meant 30-40% drop outs... not 30-40% carrying through with their order. I think we are close in our opinions.

This is pretty consistent with what i've heard (35%-50% dropout rate), and I hope thats the case. There are no shortage of people with low patience so here's to hoping that helps us!

Which South Florida dealer if you don't mind me asking, I was 6 on Lauderdale BMW (the one on Ft lauderdale) I know the first person already got his car so I should be 6 or so.

For what it is worth, I am told by my CA that I have moved from 4 to 3 on the list and the guy at #1 is wavering. I did actually see the list. It wasn't a handwritten thing either. Looked like the dealer's master list of orders or something. It even had estimated build and delivery dates but the CA said those dates aren't being met. Mine had a build date of 5/31, August delivery even though I just put my deposit down in March.

My dealer recently got three allocations and I dropped from 10 to 7 on the list. These are the first allocations they got suggesting the log jamb is finally moving. Also to note, these are all 2017s without any price change. If you got a 2016, you basically got ripped off because you got a year older model car for the same price and about the same time as a 2017. Will a 2016 look different than a 2017 on the used car market? Hell yes.

i've gone from 11 to 8 in the past 2 months and the dealers only gotten 2 allocations. so people are slowly dropping out as well, feels like the highlander..
