How far down the waiting list do we expect dealers to get this year?

I am #6 and #9 on two dealers what do you guys think are the odds of getting a M2 this year?

They are both tristate dealers(New York Area)

Im turning 40 soon so I am getting a watch but id rather use that cash for a down if the car is some what close. Id hate to not get the watch and not get the car

Hard to say, but I expect the floodgates will open once 2017 MY production ramps up. If there's money to be made, you can be sure BMW will do everything possible to earn it.

I suspect marketplace availability will look very different before the end of this calendar year.

I think its hard to gauge this questions, depends on the dealer and depends on how much M volume they have. I am number 4 out of 7 (so they tell me), in a decent volume M dealer in FL. 1st was a HEA car, 2nd going into production soon, 3rd pending then me!

BTW What kind of watch?

Just out of curiosity which dealer in FL? I'm on a wait list in NC at a dealer with which I have an existing relationship, but live in FL. Been calling around the area just to find one to see in person but keep getting such vague responses.

This is purely my own personal opinion, based on available data, and for the USA only:

- Small dealers: 2-3
- Medium dealers: 5-6
- Large Volume M dealers: 8-10

That's what it normally is. But some dealers are getting none. And if the OP is asking the question, that probably means their dealer hasn't gotten word from BMW yet.

That is awesome ... Either way, it would be a great decision. I'm putting my Omega Seamster - Planet Ocean on HOLD and buying an M2 as my Exec. MBA Graduation gift as well as upcoming 40th birthday gift ... All the best ...

I'm #6 at a good sized dealership. I've been told 1 allocation per month, so I'm looking at around October as it stands. Ouch, that sounds so far away

That's just for an allocation! Next a wait for production start, then two more months until delivery! Merry Christmas!

You won't get your car this year unfortunately being number #6.

I'm number #3 and my dealer said it seems like they are getting one car every other month.

Dealers are supposed to get 3 months worth of allocations in June so that should be a good indicator of how likely you're going to get one this year.

Good choice on the Planet Ocean, BTW. I got one when I hit 30 and after a few years it's still one of my favorite pieces.

Nice I havent seen it yet I got it shipped out of state to avoid tax. When I was younger I was a big Breitling fan but I tried on a bunch when I was at Heathrow and they didnt do it for me.

I have till the 9th of June to return it so I guess ill decide then.

Yep. There's no dealers out there getting more than one M2 every 60 days for now.

I think it is really tough to predict right now. I have a couple of orders in but no production number. My guess is unless these dealers have pretty high volume this year might be tough to pull off. Having said that we may see an uptick in activity as the 2017s begin production.

Yes and no. GM confirmed still scheduled for week 25, but no word on possible delays, although CADK has gone back on his word and says cars will indeed be made in June.

We've been talking about the MY17 changes though, might end up with a discount due to all the BS I've been through so far, especially since a car made ONE WEEK after mine would have all the new goodies.

Seems like a lot of people on this forum have multiple spots on hold. Will there be a rash of bump ups as people get their allocation somewhere and cancel their others? Also, there may be a rash of cancellations in early June when many find out their M2 won't be here in 2016 and move on to Porsche or wherever.

Won't really affect me, the two ahead of me are pretty committed. But just trying to shine some hope around

I went from 12 to 9 I don't think the dealer actually got any cars so maybe.
