Anyone running or have ran Bridgestone Potenza S-04's?
This is the only summer tire in stock at my local Costco and looking to save on tire shipping. Wanted Michelin PSS but this is all they got.

I ran the S-04 and PSS back to back. My experience aligns with Tirerack's and Car and Driver's summer tire comparison tests. I suggest you check them out.
I liked the PSS better. They provided better steering response, my car felt more planted and they seemed quieter. But I liked the S-04 a lot too. They rode better. |

I am running them right now, ride very well but I still haven't tried SuperSports so I can't tell for sure. Only problem I have with them is they wear fairly quickly. I am not the guy to go drifting or burnout at a stop light but just casual driving seems puts a number on them quicker than SuperSports from the research I've done. If there is any way to get supersports I would but my potenza's do just fine for me!

I've had them. Good tires but heavy and hard riding, they were not a big step up in comfort from run flats. I also only got 12k or so out of the rears but 25k out of the fronts. Very responsive however.
Have PSS now and like them better in almost every category (noise, comfort, stick). |

Just see how tire rack rated them.. they do their own independent testing so you can compare it to every tire within the max summer perf. group on a scale from 1 to 10.

I've had them for about six weeks now. 255/40/17 square on Arc-8's.
Obviously better than the Non-RFTs they replaced in terms of ride comfort (no filling-rattling explosions over small potholes). A little heavier steering feel at Daily Driver speeds (could also be the width increase), but much more road control/feel at highway speeds (and over!). Looking forward to tracking on them next weekend. One heavy rain experience at highway speeds; Stable with no hydroplaning at 65-70 MPH at constant speed, extremely heavy rain, but well draining highway and no huge puddles hit. Satisfactory performance in my book. Don't have any comparison to other ^^^performance tires, but so far I am happy with the purchase. PS: They really point out the deficiencies of the stock suspension. Suspension upgrade has moved up on the Mod priority list! |

Would a Nitto tires NT01 beat the S-04? Really undecided which tire to get knowing they are selling with the same price.

If you really want amazing grip look into the Dunlop Direzza Z2 Star Spec. I love mine, absolutely immense amounts of grip, still last pretty long and are decent in the rain. They'll blow away something like the S04 or Pilot super sport in terms of raw performance.
