Dual zone climate uneven

After a long time in various E46s I have recently bought a 325i saloon which has a couple of niggles that need sorting. The one I'm not sure where to start with is the climate control. The passenger side seems to work perfectly but the drivers side doesn't give out any heat. I have played about with the controls but only ever get fresh air blowing through. Whether I set the tempearures up high or low, set it to windscreen, dash or feet makes no apparent difference. The air con blows cold through both sides evenly.

Any ideas what to look at first?
Thanks
