Talking Spring detail E92 330d - Before and after

Finally got around to giving my E92 a detail

My hands and back are injured so can't do everything I wanted e.g. paintwork needs correcting but managed to do the basics: pre-wash, wash, clay bar, paintwork cleanse and wax. Hoping to invest in a DA polisher soon too.

Found the exhaust tips particularly frustrating. APC'd them, used fallout remover, metal polish and even clay bar. Still couldn't remove all the carbon

Took around 6 hours in total, will get round to doing the interior soon hopefully!

Some of the products I used

A few after shots

Looking really good

Your tailpipes look exactly like mine (but with less soot on yours as I have a buggered injector) mine won't clean up so am using it as an excuse to treat myself to a PE once I've sorted the broken stuff out

There's a detailer who just responded on another thread - he recommended using some ultra fine steel wool which will work perfectly using some metal polish soap. Wish I'd thought of that! Will have a go at it next time - maybe you won't need that PE after all

I took a crack at cleaning my tips a while ago. This GIF shows the stages.

APC, fallout remover, tar remover, R222 polishing soap, R222 polishing soap with fine steel wool. Then a bit of metal polish. Some pitting to the tips but they came out fairly OK I feel.

Looking good! It's always amazing how a bit of OCD TLC and a few hours can make older models look like brand new cars.

I gave mine a wash today to get all the weekend salty south coast water off it. I had done all the nooks and crannies yesterday and did some prep work on the roof system to get that cleaned up. Today's job was getting most the dirt off so I can polish it in the next few days and should only need a bit of Quick Detailer to get the panels ready for polish.

By the time I was done it was pretty dark so only the one photo sadly!

Interior Pictures

Got around to doing the interior yesterday - just the seats and carpets. Dash was okay for now. Used Autoglym's interior shampoo, Dodo Juice's supernatural cleaner and applied Gtechniq's L1 Leather Guard this morning.

Pictures show before / during / after - a couple of comparison shots show a matte effect on the leather where the cleaner has done it's just.

I'd rate the Supernatural Leather Cleaner 4/5 - images aren't great but you can see a huge improvement compared to the state of the leather before. It just misses out in my opinion because it's slightly lacking in cleaning power. There was some pen marks and stains I would have expected it to remove but it just wouldn't, even after 2-3 times reapplying and going at it with plenty of elbow grease.

Good product overall though, easy to use and foams nicely without becoming unmanageable.

good effort. You inspired me to clean the outside of mine yesterday! The inside, that's another story... hate cleaning interiors.

I've entered my car into a monthly detailing competition run by Ultimate Finish.

Would really appreciate support from fellow E90 members. Just follow the link below and leave a comment at the bottom of the page

You'll need to enter your email address and then you'll receive a verification link in your inbox as all the votes and comments are moderated.

http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/C...x?EntryId=3304

If I win, I'd love to finally get my hands on a DA polisher and will post pics on the forums again to keep you all updated

Oh and of course - anybody can enter next month so if you need support too, just ask

I think another 40-50 votes will help nail it, so it would be amazing if you could please pass on the link

Thanks!
