Oh my good God!

As a fairly sensible, 54 year old bloke I've just been reduced to a dribbling wreck by the sight of a bright blue BMW M2 driving through Warrington town centre. Shrieks of "it's an M2, it's an M2" didn't go down too well with my wife who was trying to shrink into her seat as my windows were open at the time.

What a STUNNING looking car... I WILL have one, one day. I SO will!

Thanks for listening, gibber, gibber...

Wife shouts from the background... "you bloody won't!"

Haha that's brilliant, yet to see one but being Warwickshire it won't be too long.

I saw a blue one in Liverpool today, I wasn't totally sure what it was but having just googled it, that definitely what it was.

Its only fair when they do the same about shoes and handbags, and we settle for just one M2

I still do it every time I see either an e92 M3 or a new M4. Thankfully seeing posts like this means I'm normal(ish).

Until they put a proper ///M engine in it, I'm out.

? Proper engine ? Is that it's because it's an N55 derivative ?

Everyone is raving about this car - it looks the nuts IMO

Are they only doing limited numbers, like they did for the 1M coupe (the one that was N54 based)?

Those things have held their value so well.

I remember that the run of 1M's was limited because it was a pig to set the production line up, meaning that manufacturing time for other cars was impacted.

The 2series seems to be selling well, so chances are they'll put a bigger run of M2's out... especially as the reviews are so positive.

Looks great. But it's a breathed on version of the N55. I can only dream how good it would have been with the same motor as the M3. I think that's what BMW were worried about.

From BMW's perspective, there will always be a pecking order that they'll not want to alter when it comes to //M. They'll never knowingly make a 2 that is better than a 3 or 4. Stick the m3/4 engine in the m2 and you'd have a SERIOUSLY serious car.

Porsche are the same... they purposely dialled down the Cayman, when they realised that it was going to be better than the 911.

...and needs the same twin turbos.

Yes they failed on the engine setup but they must be protecting M3/M4 sales.

I know!
I would have been more likely to dream of one if they had taken a step backwards* and fitted the N54!

The 1M is as close as we'll ever get.

There's one of them that lives near me. MY10 in black. Sounds like there's an angry bear under the bonnet... much louder than my 335i.
